I am just learning of a collision between a Helicopter (Military) and an AA flight as it approached Reagan. The reports I have so far indicates the aircraft came down in the Potomac and that there is no survivors.

No further info at this time but I am sure some of my fellow contributors in the USA will have more info for us as the day progresses.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the families and friends of those who have lost their lives.

At this early stage it appears that fault lies with the tower at DCA. The military chopper was using a different radio frequency than the civilian tower and civilian aircraft were using, but apparently the controller who attempted to contact the chopper attempted to contact it through the civilian frequency and the pilots therefore did not receive the warning that it was on a collision course with the CRJ. I haven't heard anything about whether the controller warned the CRJ about the presence of the chopper.
